Mr. West wrote a quick draft of a script, “The Roost,” about a group of friends who have a not-so-friendly encounter with killer vampire bats. “It was just panic to get a script made,” he said. “I’d never written anything more than 20 pages. But I just forced myself to do it. It’s not that hard to write a script, it’s just really easy not to.”
